Financial Support Package

All students receive the following four-year commitment for financial support, subject to satisfactory performance in the program which is evaluated on a semester-by-semester basis (see section 8). For 2006-2007, the four-year support package consisted of: (1) a Ponder scholarship from the College in the amount of $3,000 per year; (2) College of Business Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year; (3) half-time appointment (20 hours per week) as either a research assistant (RA) of a teaching assistant (TA) during the fall and winter semesters in the amount of $9,333 per year ($4,666.50 per semester); (4) summer support as an RA or TA in the amount of $4,500; and (5) a full waiver of educational fees. The 12-month support package totals a minimum of $17,833 plus full waiver of educational fees.

The college provides each doctoral candidate with $2,000 in development funds to support research projects and travel associated with research presentations at major academic conferences.  A medical insurance subsidy is provided for those with college guaranteed teaching or research assistantships.

Additional scholarships maybe available from the School of Accountancy and the University of Missouri for highly qualified applicants.

Acceptance of the financial support package requires that there be no substantive outside employment while receiving support from the University. If a student is not finished after four years but is making good progress on completing a dissertation, the Director of the School of Accountancy may, at his/her discretion and subject to teaching needs, make a half-time TA appointment available. No financial support is provided after five years.
