On May 16, about 500 students receiving their degrees from the College of Business in May or August walked across the stage of the Hearnes Center to the applause of family, friends, and faculty members.
James Morris, BS BA '76, delivered the convocation address. Morris, who is a partner with KPMG in Kansas City, talked about his memories while a student and emphasized four points: loyalty breeds confidence and trust; being ethical and honest is very important; make time to be involved in your community; and that there is no substitute for hard work.
In total, 372 students received Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees with emphasis areas in finance, management, marketing, economics, real estate, or international business. Also, 67 students received accountancy degrees (both bachelors and masters in most cases), and 58 students earned degrees from the Crosby MBA Program. Two PhD students, one in business administration and the other in accounting, received their doctoral degrees.
Adam Stoverink, president of the Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity, spoke on behalf of the graduating class. Stoverink was selected by the Student Council and other student organizations to serve in this role. He stressed the importance of never forgetting the memories created, friendships developed, and all that Mizzou has provided.
