University of Missouri Announces New Executive MBA

Columbia, Missouri—October 18, 2011—The University of Missouri at Columbia's first executive MBA program was announced today by Trulaske College of Business Dean Joan T.A. Gabel. The 21-month program, named execMBA, brings together three elements for working professionals: On-campus weekend study, online coursework and a global residency.

Mizzou has a top-ranked full-time MBA program — the Crosby MBA. We wanted to give working professionals the same access to our world-class faculty through an EMBA program that combines the best of online learning with face-to-face class time," said Dean Gabel. "The result is a highly networked, highly personal and highly relevant program we call execMBA. Our execMBA is for a range of professionals who want the expertise that an MBA can bring to their business and contribute to their personal growth."

This model builds on a national trend of online course delivery. MU improves on the model by structuring every course in the execMBA program to include in-class and online components taught by the same instructor. Additionally, the execMBA is designed to foster strong peer connections — a critical part of the MBA experience often sacrificed with typical online programs. Enrollment in execMBA is limited to ensure a small class size, and students will take the same classes together in the same order in a lock-step, cohort program that is conducive to personal interactions.

Coursework is expected to be approximately 75 percent online and 25 percent in-class. On-campus weekend sessions will be held every six to eight weeks for a total of eight visits, and students will add global experience to their portfolios with an eight- to ten-day international residency. Graduates are awarded the same Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree that full-time students earn through the nationally recognized Crosby MBA program.

The 21-month program is competitively priced at $65,000 and includes tuition, all fees, international residency, all required course materials and all group meals on campus. The inaugural execMBA class begins August 2012. Applications will be available online in December, and applications will be accepted starting January 2012. More information is available at
