The School of Accountancy at the Trulaske College of Business welcomed Dr. Steven Mintz, professor emeritus from California Polytechnic State University, was the keynote speaker at the 2018 Orin Ethics Symposium. Steven has published dozens of articles on business and accounting ethics, as well as a textbook titled Ethical Obligations and Decision Making in Accounting: Text and Cases.

His lecture provided insights into the changing dynamic affecting the accounting profession. He spoke about the challenges of audit independence, commercialism and conflicts of interest in accounting, and the need for accounting professionals to commit to serving the public interest.

The Orin Ethics Symposium increases awareness of ethics issues in accountancy, business, and law by hosting key figures in business ethics, corporate governance and regulation. The symposium is generously supported by Richard M. Orin, a 1949 Trulaske graduate.
