Brian Koechner joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Forensic Accountant in March 2012 and has spent the past 6 years investigating complex financial crimes, health care fraud, intellectual property rights, transnational organized crime, and cybercrimes. Prior to joining the FBI, Koechner spent approximately 7 years working at Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers tax departments specializing in hedge funds, corporate tax compliance, and individual tax. Koechner owns a CPA firm specializing in tax planning and compliance. Koechner frequently provides public presentations on cryptocurrency, white collar crime, and cyber crimes.
Koechner attended the University of Missouri and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters of Accountancy and a Tax Certificate in 2007. Koechner taught Economics and Accounting courses while attending the University of Missouri as an undergraduate and graduate student. Koechner successfully graduated from Office Candidate School in the United States Marine Corps while attending college. Koechner obtained his CPA license in the state of Missouri in 2008, is member of the AICPA, and is an active CPA in the state of Missouri.
